Just Getting Started

You've heard the terms — maybe used a chatbot once. This track assumes nothing, and defines every word the moment it shows up.

What you'll be able to do after this track

Recommended order

What Is AI, Really

The core vocabulary — AI, machine learning, deep learning — explained with everyday examples.

How AI Actually Learns

Why AI systems learn from examples instead of instructions, and where that approach can go wrong.

Using AI Tools Well

Your first real prompts — matched to actual tasks like writing, research, and planning.

Not sure this is your level? If you already use AI tools daily and want to get more out of them, the Skilled track will move faster and go further.

A simple way to use this track

Don't try to learn AI as a list of definitions. I would work through this track in order and actually use an AI tool between lessons. The goal is not to memorise terms; it is to become comfortable enough to recognise what the tool is doing, what it is useful for, and when not to trust it.

Suggested learning path

  1. Understand the vocabulary. Start with “What Is AI, Really?” and “How AI Actually Learns.” If you can explain both ideas to someone else without using jargon, move on.
  2. Try one everyday task. Use AI to rewrite a paragraph, organise notes, or brainstorm questions. Compare the result with what you would have produced yourself.
  3. Learn the failure modes. Read the lessons on myths, prompts and choosing a tool. Deliberately ask the chatbot about something you can verify, then check its answer.

Beginner checkpoint

You are ready for the Skilled track when you can write a clear prompt with context, recognise that fluent answers can still be wrong, and choose not to use AI when a normal search or trusted source is the better option.
